My memory is failing me...

Brigham is 8 months old now, and right around 18 lbs. He is showing a real interest in "standing" lately, and gets a kick out of standing up with support of the couch. I wanted to take a picture today, but the camera had been charging upstairs....I'll have to plan better next time. It would be such a fun christmas gift if my little boy was struttin' around!
I stopped by the Sheaffers today, and had a chance to hold Holly. She is about 7 lbs 19.5 inches....and I was terrified to hold her! She was so small! My memory is failing me because I cannot remember Briggy being that small. He was SMALLER! and holding her seemed so foreign. I know generally speaking I have a horrible memory...but my own child? only 8 months ago? I felt so awkward holding such a fragile infant....how did I do it just a few months ago? Sometimes I feel like a barbarian how I have to lugg Brigs around....he doesn't let me hold him gently anymore...hardly any snuggle time...he always wants to be scooting around on his own (making sure I am watching him at all times...heaven forbid I glance away...)Babies really do grow up so incredibly fast...its pretty crazy.
I have no pictures of post! Hopefully I'll get some cute ones this weekend!

Bigger and Better

....Everything's bigger and better in Texas.....
Isn't that the saying? Well, from the looks of it, it seems that way to me! Tom and I have pretty much decided we want to move there. His degree is in sports management and he wants to eventually work in a school's athletic department...but being stuck way out here in Mass has stifled most opportunities for him to go on interviews (and seeing that the south is the hot spot for sports...thats the area he was looking in anyway) So we brainstormed and thought that maybe he should transfer through rent-a-center and relocate as a manager down there. Because housing is so affordable down there, we might actually be able to get a real HOME and not some rinky-dink apartment....anyway, most of the new texas houses in our price range are about 2000-2500 sq. feet 4 bedroom 2 1/2 bath. Perfect. Most are brick exterior and look very similar, but I came upon this new home that is different and oh so cute. I love it. I want it! Its in McKinney, TX...which is also where my uncle lives. Im hoping we can move down there...even though my home will probably be sold by then :(
Here it is!

Im going to have to get briggy a cowboy hat and boots.....

Fall Photos!!

Here are some photos of all of us from the past few days!
On Wednesday we drove up to Vermont to visit Joseph Smith's birthplace. We could not have planned a more perfect day for weather and foliage.
Did you know that Joseph Smith has some interesting relatives...namely FDR, Nixon, Bush, Ford, and Winston Churchill? Oh..and that Emma was his seventh cousin? And that Emma is actually even MORE directly related to President Bush? Isn't that crazy? I had never heard of that! They all originate from the Mayflower passenger John Howland.

Then we took some super cute pictures of my little Briggy! He'll be EIGHT MONTHS next week! I can't hardly believe how fast time is zooming by. We picked out pumpkins...a big lumpy one for tom and me and a cute little round one for briggy :)

Briggy attempting to gnaw on a wheat bagel for the first time....

Not much happened...

Alisa took a lot of really cute pictures that I dont have on my computer yet...but when I get them, I'll be sure to post them!

Super Saturday

We had a super saturday! Our day started out early at 7:30 am driving down to CT for a "hair appointment" with one of my best friends. She streaked some light blonde through my hair. I love it! Then we headed down to Canton for a summer 2009 search of Briggy clothes. I thought the Gymboree clearance would be good....but they had hardly ANYTHING. But, when we headed over to Kohls they had a TON of 70-90% clearance for summer clothes.

As you can see from the picture--we made out like bandits! I think the total for all of that was like $38!!!! I am almost all set for Briggy's 12-18/ 18-24 month clothing!

Then Alisa and I got manicures and pedicures while Tom and Briggy did "guy" stuff at Dicks Sporting Goods. I haven't had a pedicure or manicure since our wedding...and that was with Alisa too! I have such great friends...today was great!

Picture Tag

Here's a little sneak peek into my picture files....thanks for the tag, jocelyn!
How it works: go into your picture file, choose 4th file, open it, choose 4th picture, post it and explain it, tag 4 people.

This is one of my good friend, Hillary (and her baby Cade) along with her business partner, Rachel and her little girl....they are "mompreneurs" starting their own baby line of slings, nursing covers, bibs and burp cloths. I was helping her spruce up her blog and this is one of the pictures I used. You can check her out at: http://themainebabyslings.blogspot.com

Gals I'll be tagging:

Mindy (this one is a lot less daunting...I promise!)

Tom is a baseball legend...

a fantasy baseball legend, that is.

I forgot to give props to my hubber who won his family/friend fantasy baseball league for the SECOND year in a row [insert cheer] Grand-dad Tillotson and Tom battled it out in the playoff games. The two most knowledgeable men I know!
Congratulations Tillotson men, you're the best!

Kiwi--the magical fruit!

Yesterday we made our monthly visit to Trader Joe's for Briggy's organic extravaganza. We get loads of fruits and veggies (and flax seed) to gear up for the next month of purees. His new 8 month foods include: kiwi, white potatoes, broccoli and flaxseed. We also picked up a ton of pears, sweet potatoes, avocados, apples, bananas and carrots. I was excited to find out this information about kiwi (i hope briggy likes it!)

The Rutgers study found **kiwifruit to be the most nutrient dense of 27 of the most popular fruits, followed by, papaya, cantaloupe and strawberry. On the basis of cost in calories per nutrient, kiwifruit has the 5th lowest caloric cost behind lemon and strawberry, cantaloupe and papaya. Also in terms of CPN, kiwifruit shares a top rating for low-sodium, high-potassium fruit with papaya, apricot and banana.

On an individual food basis, kiwifruit had the highest density for vitamin C; whereas avocado, kiwi and banana led for magnesium compared to other fruits. Avocado, banana and kiwifruit are leading sources for potassium. Kiwifruit was also found to be one of the few low-fat sources of vitamin E.

CONCLUSION:

Fruits are important sources of many nutrients and also contain many other elements that may be important factors in disease risk reduction. The strength of the evidence relating increased fruit and vegetable intake to reduced levels of cancer and heart diseases is compelling enough to encourage consumption. Recommendations to patients, clients and the general public for increasing fruit consumption should stress the importance of a variety of fruit choices and suggest inclusion of lesser-known but nutritionally dense fruits, such as kiwifruit.
